Class Members:

Non-Umbrella Purchasers: All persons resident in Canada who purchased optical disc drives (“ODD”) manufactured or supplied by the defendants in this action, or products that contain ODD (“ODD Products”) in which the ODD was manufactured or supplied by the defendants in this action, in the period from January 1, 2004 through January 1, 2010.

Umbrella Purchasers: All persons resident in Canada who purchased optical disc drives ("ODD") that were not manufactured or supplied by the defendants in this action, or products that contain ODD ("ODD Products") in which the ODD was not manufactured or supplied by the defendants in this action, in the period from January 1, 2004 through January 1, 2010.

VIEW STATUS UPDATES

This class action relates to the alleged price fixing of optical disc drives (“ODD”) or products that contained ODD between January 1, 2004 and January 1, 2010.

Claims Process

The Claims Deadline of November 14, 2022, has now passed, and no further claims may be filed. The Administrator, RicePoint Administration Inc., is reviewing the claims received before the deadline and will contact you if further information is required. Payment to Class Members who filed for the minimum $20 payment is expected to occur in the Spring of 2023.

Payments to Class Members who filed documented claims for more than the minimum $20 payment will be made as soon as possible after the claims evaluations and appeals are complete.

Settlements

Settlements have been reached with all defendants totalling approximately CDN $29.7 million. The BC and Quebec courts approved a protocol for distributing the net settlement amount. A copy of the Distribution Protocol is available under Important Documents along with copies of the settlement agreements.
