These proposed class actions allege the defendants and their senior executives participated in illegal and secret meetings and made agreements to fix the prices Film and Electrolytic Capacitors sold in Canada, including British Columbia, and elsewhere. Copies of the notices of civil claim and their amendments can be viewed below. Proposed class actions have also been commenced in Ontario and Quebec.
On November 25, 2020, the BC Supreme Court certified the Electrolytic Capacitors and Film Capacitors actions for settlement purposes against Panasonic Corporation, Panasonic Corporation of North America, Panasonic Canada Inc. and Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd. (collectively “Panasonic”).
The settlement agreement with Panasonic is subject to court approval in Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec. Hearings to approve the Settlement Agreement will be held as follows:
