This proposed class action relates to alleged price fixing of CRT and products containing CRT. The CRT Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim were filed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Vancouver Registry No. S097394 on November 13, 2009. A CRT Further Amended Notice of Civil Claim was filed in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Vancouver Registry No. S097394 on October 8, 2013.

The plaintiffs allege that the defendants conspired to fix, raise, maintain or stabilize the prices of CRT from November 23, 1996 to November 21, 2007.

CRT can be divided into two main categories: CDTs (colour display tubes) which are used mainly in computer monitors and CPTs (colour digital tubes) which are used mainly in televisions.  The Further Amended Notice of Civil claim limits the product at issue to include only CDTs and computer monitors containing CDTs, CPTs, and televisions containing CPTs.  The decision from the Certification hearing on January 2016 in Ontario is under reserve.

Parallel actions were filed in Ontario, Fanshawe College v. Hitachi Ltd., et al, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Court File No. 59044CP and in Quebec, Carol Ouellet c. Hitachi LTD., et al., Cour Supérieure (District de Québec), No. 200-06-000114-093. CFM is working in cooperation with co-counsel in these jurisdictions to prosecute the claims on a national basis

On August 12, 2016 the Ontario action was certified as a national class proceeding .  Click here to read the decision.
