Our lawyers have represented victims of human rights abuses including forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, sexual violence, discrimination, suppression of peaceful protest, and other abuses.
We litigated ground-breaking Canadian cases with transnational reach.
Our work on the Nevsun case, which involved allegations of forced labour at a Canadian owned mine in east Africa, established that Canadian companies may be held liable for violations of international human rights norms. The decision has been described as “pathbreaking” by international law professor and former dean of Yale Law school, Harold Koh.
We are committed to aiding in the enforcement of international human rights standards and establishing increased accountability, and deterrence of future violations.
