Settlements have been reached with all defendants in the following actions: Alternators, Body Sealing Parts, Fuel Injection Systems, Heater Control Panels, Occupants Safety Systems, Plastic Interior Trims, Radiators, Starters, Steering Angle Sensors, and Windshield Wiper Systems (collectively “Affected Parts”). To date, settlements have been entered into with 67 defendant groups, totalling approximately $180 million.
The SKF settlement has been approved in Ontario and British Columbia. Approval remains outstanding in Quebec. The Quebec Superior Court approved the SKF settlement on April 5, 2023. Leave to appeal this judgment was granted May 30, 2023. A settlement conference has been set before the Quebec Court of Appeal on October 17, as the parties have agreed to try to resolve the appeal consensually. A further notice will be provided to Settlement Class Members in Quebec.
Following the resolve of the appeal, the parties agreed to publish a second notice of proposed settlement in Quebec. The Settlement Approval Hearing will take place virtually on March 8, 2024 at 2pm.
