CFM specializes in acting on behalf of plaintiffs in product liability, class action and aviation cases. We are a small but specialized firm that is facing selective and sustained growth. CFM is determined to maintain its tight-knit, progressive and collaborative working culture while managing this success.The litigation cases at CFM are complex both legally and technically, as well as on jurisdiction matters. The successful individual will demonstrate a keen interest in collaborating with the lawyers in the details of these cases. You will become an integral part of the litigation team.

Paralegal (Contract, Maternity Leave)

Are you an experienced paralegal looking to work on complex litigation cases?   We are looking for someone with experience and strong analytical skills. Are you a team player who will work well with our paralegals and our administrative group.  This role is a full-time temporary position to cover maternity leave for a minimum period of 12 months.  When applying, please reference job posting #202005PL01.

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • University degree
  • Graduate of a recognized paralegal program
  • Proactive in keeping up-to-date with changes relating to legal procedures including filing and limitation dates, Acts, Regulations in litigation (whether Supreme Court Rules, Court Registry Procedures or other specialized procedures).
  • In-depth knowledge of legal principles and practices
  • Work with minimal direction or instruction
  • Minimum three years experience on the job in order to gain expertise needed to do substantive legal support work
  • Able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
  • Able to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80 percent of the work time when evaluating legal matters
  • Able to proofread typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instruction effectively from a diverse group of clients, lawyers and staff and provide information with courtesy and tact

Legal Administrative Assistant

We are looking for a high performing “best in class” individual with strong analytical and legal assistant skills. The LAA will take a lead role as support to one of the firm’s partners, as well as working very closely with paralegals and others in the administrative group. They must have a pleasant and calm disposition (especially under pressure) with the keen ability to anticipate and proactively interpret the needs of the firm’s associates.

Qualifications:

  • Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited institution (or equivalent experience)
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of legal procedures
  • Able to take initiative, exercise professional judgment and solve problems
  • Able to work independently
  • Great attention to detail
  • Able to coordinate multiple priorities
  • Highly organized
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Advanced Computer Literacy

Ideally we would like an intermediate to senior level LAA (8+ years) with litigation experience.
